Joel Ottaway is a dedicated and accomplished athlete and coach with a strong connection to the Gold Coast Athletics club. He embarked on his athletic journey in 2008 as an Under 6 athlete and has since demonstrated impressive growth and commitment, progressing through the ranks to become an Under 17 athlete in 2019.
In 2020, Joel expanded his involvement in athletics by venturing into coaching, focusing on IAAF kids Athletics for athletes aged U6 to U9. Over the years, he has honed his coaching skills, attaining the status of a Level 2 Club Coach in 2023. His passion for nurturing young talent is evident in the establishment of a small High Jump and Long Jump Squad, where athletes aged 10 and older are encouraged to participate in squad sessions.
Joel’s athletic journey has not been limited to coaching. He is an accomplished senior athlete who has competed in Senior Athletics events. His dedication and talent have earned him the privilege of representing the region at a state level multiple times, resulting in the acquisition of several medals. Additionally, Joel has contributed to his team’s success by being a part of a state record-holding relay team.
