Our coaching philosophy is based on long term athletic development (LTAD) and the facilitation of individual achievement.
Skill acquisition and development is progressive and as such there should always be an awareness of where the athlete “is at.”
Coaching programs are individualised and prepared with this in mind.
Register nowOur Coaches are fully qualified, accredited and registered with Athletics Australia (AA) and Australian Track & Field Coaches Association (ATFCA) and therefore fully insured.
Our Coaches are required to also hold a current Blue Card (Queensland Working with Children Check).
Our Coaches must abide by Codes of Conduct provided by Little Athletics Australia, AA and the ATFCA, as well as our Coaching Philosophy.
Becoming a coach can be as simple as completing the Introduction to Teaching Little Athletics Skills (ITLAS) course facilitated by Little Athletics Queensland.
The ITLAS course is a non-accredited practical coaching course designed for Little Athletics. The course is designed to help participants become better placed to assist children to perform basic athletic skills. It is great for parents, school teachers and other interested persons who want to know more about the skills of the sport so that they may help to coach children of Primary school age, assist at Little Athletics Centres or prepare students for a school athletics carnival. Participants are shown drills, skills, games and activities relevant to the target age group.
The course is 6.5 hours in duration and covers all event groups on the Little Athletics track and field program. At the conclusion of the course the coach will be able to;
It is a practical course with no exams or assessments.

Athletics Australia Coaching Framework
The Athletics Coaching Accreditation Framework is designed to progressively introduce the coaching skills required to develop athletes from beginner to elite. The framework is designed to allow coaches of all levels to master their coaching.

Established in 1974 and the only coaching body for our sport and run by coaches has a coaching pathway and accreditation format that can be found here
Presently Club coaching will comprise of school holiday athlete development clinics with one being held during the September holidays with another in January.
In the future, with sufficient coaches, weekly club coaching could be available once again, however we need additional coaches. We are always seeking coaches so if you are interested, please talk to us.
Our coaches provide squad coaching opportunities for events including sprint & hurdles, race walking and jumps for athletes from 9 years to open age.
Coaching may be available for 6-9 years which will be games-based training aimed towards skill acquisition and athletics basics.
