Each competition night we need 50-60 volunteers to help the night run smoothly. Volunteering can be as simple as raking sand after each long jump attempt or serving in the canteen.
The best place to start is to follow with your child’s age group and when a call for help is made say “I don’t know what to do but if you show me, I’m willing to give it a go”. Or ask the Age Manager “how can I help”. Helping with the age group or at the finish line are perhaps the best places to see all the ACTION.
Be present at any parent orientation sessions and you will receive a basic introduction to how all events are run. Learn the rules and regulations as you go, at your own pace and feel confident in a family friendly environment.
Little Athletics Queensland and Athletics Australia offer resources, videos, workshops, and seminars which are generally open to anyone that has an interest in officiating regardless of skill level. If you are interested, please approach our Center Manager or email gcathleticss4220@gmail.com.
Queensland Athletics allows for all Club Volunteers to join as Club Members free of charge. This is for all volunteers, including committee members. This can be done via the link on the registration page.
Volunteering on a Friday night could potentially lead to officiating at an Australia Championships or even at the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.
